The town of Arita in Kyushu is celebrating the 400th anniversary of the establishment of its porcelain industry. Arita porcelain is world famous and kept Dutch traders in Japan for centuries. Arita is a pretty little town and for such an acclaimed name you can get some reasonable bargain although most are a bit big to get home.
